It's been a while since my last news/blog post. A lot has happened. I am in the midst of finally launching some of my mindfulness plans, walks in Leicestershire, the first one this weekend at Abbey Park at 7.50 am. My long awaited mindfulness talk, called Stop to Restart and based on The Mindfulness Stop Technique and then a series of tailor made meditations.

The online talk is 30 mins long, cut down from a 45 minute in person talk to make it more concise and compact to follow. I dont mind admitting I've recorded it about 30 times, and I'm almost there. I get a bit tongue tied now and then but I know that's natural and talking non stop reciting something you've learnt for 30 minutes isn't easy. The more I do it the better I get. The talk launches this month, January, before the end of the month. I'm charging £14.99 for it and it's yours to keep. My kids (big kids) told me I had to share this with people, otherwise I'm not sure I would have arrived at this point.

I really hope this technique, I think it's a life skill, really helps people as it has helped me all my adult life. STOP - Stop Think Observe Proceed. It sounds obvious and it is but when broken down 'in a moment' where you need clarity of thought it comes into it's own.

I tried several settings for the talk and then realised I was most comfortable just sitting in my pink chair at home. I'm sure over time I'll become a little more professional and slick, but its meant to be personal.

 

 

17th July 2024

This morning I picked up the print for my new book, The Football Game. To say I was excited is an understatement. This new book is now for sale on this website. It  has twice as many pages as the first book and follows 6 year old Billy as he tackles his nerves, guided by his dad and coach. The book also follows Billy's relationship with his little brother as he learns patience and understanding.

 

18th March 2024

I have picked up the latest re-print of The Swimming Lesson today. A few mior changes. It has The Golden Wizard Book Award on the front. I have also reduced the size of the text inside as I felt it was too bog on the first print run. The logo is also new, sometimes you don't it all right first time! Noted on the inside cover: Revised Edition.

 

11th March 2024

I have sent my content for the next book, The Football Game, off to the copywriter today. I should have that back in 2 weeks!

I have pressed go on another print run of The Swimming Lesson, I'm down to only a handful of books and it's been nice to incorporate the Golden Wizard award Logo on it. I've also made a few tiny changes, the logo and I've reduced the books font size.

Tomorrow I am off to The London Book Fair for the first time.

 

5th February 2024 - Book Reading

Today I ha the pleasure of reading my book to 3 classes at a lovely village primary school in Leicestershire. The children asked some wonderful questions and we chatted a lot about the colour of their own swimming hats!

17th January 2024 - Book Reading

I visited my first Primary School today to read my book to the children. It was great fun, the children asked some wonderful questions as a result of a question and answer session in the assembly. This has encourage me to make this a permanent offer to read to school children in Leicestershire each month. It may be the case that some schools although still in Leicestershire maybe too far out for me to travel to, so please bear this in mind.

On the11th Dec 2023 I spoke on Radio Leicester about my book, The Swimming Lesson, 38 minutes into the programme.

Kelly Hinch was standing in for the day and we got on like a house on fire!

I'm very grateful to Kelly for having me, I was quite nervous when I arrived and then I very quickly reminded myself I had the skills to calm my mind, think clearly and speak slowly. There was no need to worry or panic and I quite enjoyed it!
